((OOC - This quest takes place on an Earth parallel that contains magic. Please see 'Regarding' post or PM me for any more info))
Naia had been absentmindedly floating along the English Channel minding her own business, when she got caught in a fast moving current. With a muffled scream she was swiftly moved through the waterways of England before being unceremoniously dumped on shore.
With a huff, she got up and brushed the dirt from her blue cotton dress. It was hot, too hot for an English spring and Naia wished that she could go back to her lovely blue river on the European mainland. However, with one look at the water behind her, she knew she didn't want to travel back through the dank, murky looking canal.
With a sigh, she looked around for any sign as to where she was, and sure enough not too far away, was a map telling her she was in the Regents Canal in the heart of London.
Naia wondered how far it was to the English Channel from where she was, English waterways were not her forte. She glanced back at the water and shuddered.
'What self-respecting Nymph would let a canal get into this state?' she wondered to herself.
She refused to travel through the canal but nothing stopped her from travelling on the canal.
With a smile Naia formed a chair out of the water and sat down, using her powers to travel along the surface of the water.
She just hoped she was going in the right direction.

"Oh, Chiyoko-san, are you busy?" Chiyo turned to see who was calling her. A man in a black suit and tie, with short black hair was hurrying towards her. "Masajun-sama" she bowed a little, but she saw his smile as she regarded him with the respect of authority. She hadn't known him long, but Masajun was one of the few officials she treated with the utmost respect. "Not at all, what can I do for you?" "Get your gear, something's happening on one of the Earth variants again." Chiyo nodded. There was always something happening on one of the Earth variants. "As you wish." She turned and headed for her room to get changed.

Fang was busy tinkering with some electronics on the workbench in his room when somebody knocked on his door. He hastily dragged a sheet over his workbench to hide what he was working on then went to answer the door. He opened it and had to crane his neck back to look up at the official who was stood there. "Can I help you ma'am?" Fang asked politely "We need to have a talk" Fang's thoughts immediately went to the device he had been working on. "What about?" "Follow me" Fang grabbed his boots and pulled them on then fixed his bandana in place to hide his ears, last of all he grabbed his Omni-Wench 8000 and let it tether itself to the anchor point on the back of his dungarees. The female official let him through the HQ to a briefing room. "Sit down!" She ordered Fang sat down nervously, expecting all sorts of horrible punishments to used on him. "Since the day you were old enough you have been trusted to work as part of our technology maintenance division, keeping the technology of the QA running smoothly while our magical teams do the same with the magic of the QA. However we have decided that your talents will be better put to use elsewhere" "How do you mean?" "We're going to make you an active quester, you will go out on quests like so many other proud and noble individuals" "But ... But I'm just a techie. There's nothing special about me. I'm not even head of my own team or the best one on that team" The woman sat opposite him with an amused smile on her face. "How long did you think you could maintain that façade for?" "What façade?" "The 'I am just an ordinary part of the team' one. We know that you've been doing extra work since your first day on the tech team. Mysterious fixes, unexplained upgrades and new useful tools suddenly appearing as if delivered by a little magical pixie. Well after checking that it wasn't one of the pixies working here or one of the other magical creatures, we traced everything to you. For years you have been ideal quester material but instead you have chosen to remain a quiet member of a tech team here within the HQ" Fang felt numb, they had seen through everything, they probably even knew what he was working on but they were still going to make him a quester. "You're being sent to a planet called Earth, well it's technically one of the Earth variants. Magic and magical creatures are able to exist there in the open so you won't need any kind of disguise. You have twenty minutes to requisition some supplies then you will be sent to Earth through one of our portals"
***
Nineteen minutes later Fang was staring at the open portal to Earth. He felt lost and completely out of his depth looking at it. He had all the gear he thought he could possibly need but all he knew was the HQ and now he was being sent out into the vast multiverse without a clue as to what he was meant to do.

Naia soon found herself at the mouth of the canal where it lead into a river. Much to her disgust, the river was just as murky and brown as the canal had been. She was too used to bright blue waters where she lived. She was a Nymph who knew how to take care of her designated waterways.
'If my father could see this...' she thought angrily to herself. Her father would never stand for it. 'Perhaps I should find the one responsible...'
Naia internally debated this briefly before deciding she had no choice. Her father was an Oceanid, known as one of the five, who govern each of the five major oceans in world, his designation was the Atlantic, beautiful blue water that separated the Americas from Europe and Africa. If he were to see the state of the waters in Britain, he'd never forgive her for not fixing it.

"You must be Fang" said a sweet, young voice from beside the door. Chiyo looked him up and down. Definitely a first-timer. She pushed herself from her position leaning on the wall and offered Fang a hand to shake.

Fang went to shake the woman's hand then realised that he was still wearing his gloves. He pulled one off and shook her hand, not bothered that his hands would be furry. "Hello. Sorry this is all very new to me miss. Your name is?"

"Chiyoko, but that's very official, so you may call me 'Chi' or 'Chiyo'." Chiyo said with a smile. She shook his hand firmly, no longer bothered by the differences in the Questers she met. In the end they were all the same, herself included. They all had a job to do. "We'd best get going then" she said, indicating the open portal in front of them. "It affects everyone differently the first few times, some more than others. It's best to just get it over with and see." With that, she double-checked her armour, sword and pouch and went through.
On the other side, a bright light appeared and Chiyo stepped out of it. She was relatively comfortable in her armour on Earth parallels, since most people just assumed she was in costume for something. Still, the dull grey of London and the murky-brown water of the Thames were not the ideal place to start off a quest. It was only after inspecting her surroundings that she noticed a blue woman seemingly floating across the water on some kind of chair. She raised an eyebrow. It was something she hadn't seen often.

Naia was used to seeing magic of all kinds on Earth, but the bright white of the portal caught her eye as she floated past. Momentarily distracted by the light, she noticed a woman step through. When the woman looked in her direction, Naia blushed and lost concentration over her powers briefly, plunging her straight into the water with a yelp.

Chiyo ran to the riverbank to see if she was alright, but judging from the glimpse of the woman she had seen, she was probably some kind of water nymph or something of the sort, so Chiyo was relatively confident she wouldn't need assistance. "Are you alright?" She called.

Fang emerged on the other side of the portal a few moments after Chi. He felt dizzy and rather disorientated. He stumbled to a nearby bin and threw up inside it. Eventually he regained his composure and wiped his mouth on a piece of tissue he pulled out of his pocket. "Guess it affects me worse than others" He threw the tissue away and pulled his gloves back on. "So what do we do first?"
