This is for the October challenge. In this quest, someone/something has caused trainers to fuse with one of their pokemon. Given the nature of the problem faced in this quest, questers will NOT be required to obtain a partner pokemon before joining. However, those who do will become subject to the fusion. Unless there is a good reason for you to have fused with another of your pokemon, then you will fuse with the pokemon you started with. In your fused state, you have access to your partners attacks, but your strength is severely diminished - no human is as strong as pokemon can become. Other than this, the quest will function the same as a standard pokemon world quest.

Dusty hastily punched in the number for the QA, and waited for an answer. Once he heard a connection, he didn't even wait for a greeting.
"Send help. Something's wrong. This is Dusty." He told the person on the phone, before looking back out into the gym.
How did this happen? He asked himself, before staring at his horn in the mirror, and sighing. I hope they turn up soon.

An hour had passed, and with no-one having arrived, Dusty decided to set off towards Pallet Town, and hope that maybe Professor Oak at least knew something.
OK, Tank, Buddy he thought I have no idea if you're can hear me, but You've never steered us wrong yet. Which way?
A few seconds later, Dusty nodded, and set off toward Viridian Forest.

After two days wandering, Dusty sat on a bench outside Oak's laboratory.
He'd been asked to wait outside. There were clearly a lot of problems being caused for Oak, given the recent events.
After a long wait, Dusty was finally called in by a young man, who appeared to have been fused with an Azumarill.
Dusty followed him deep into the lab, and stood before what had obviously been Professor oak before all this started. However, it was hard to tell where the Fearow ended and the Professor began.
"Hello again, Professor." Dusty said. He thought to himself I guess the longer you've been with a pokemon, the worse this is...
"Hello Dusty. I'm going to assume you're here about the current predicament?" Oak responded.
"Yeah. I've tried to get some help, but with the current state of things, it's been a little difficult..."
"I understand. So, what would you like to know?"
"Are there any pokemon who could do this?"
"Without further research, I couldn't say. However, we have extensive documentation on most pokemon now, and if nothing springs to mind, then I'm afraid..."
"That would leave only legendaries..."
"Yes. Now, I think it's safe to assume there are only so many who would have the right powers to perform this, but I would still need to do some investigation. I'll contact you as soon as I know anything."

After a long time waiting, Dusty finally got a call on his Pokegear.
"Hello Professor."
"Hello Dusty. I think I've managed to get all the info we need."
"I'll be right over."
***
Dusty arrived at the lab not long after, and was again led to the back of the lab.
"Well, what did you manage to find out?"
"Alright, as I said earlier, we can only really suspect a legendary pokemon of being able to do this. Now, I think we can narrow it down further within that boundary. Firstly, I doubt anything but a Psychic, Ghost or Dark type would even be able to perform something like this."
"Only those three types?"
"Yes. None of the others really have the right sort of powers to perform something like this."
"So who does that leave us with?"
Professor Oak handed Dusty a sheet. On it was a list of names
Mewtwo Mew Lugia Celebi Latias Latios Jirachi Deoxys Azelf Mespirit Uxie Giratina Cresselia Darkrai Arceus Victini Melloetta
"That's still a lot of names..."
"Well, we've managed to cross off some of them through logical deduction..."
"I'm listening."
"Well, most of the pokemon on the list have been studied extensively. While they might be the appropriate types, most either wouldn't be inclined or powerful enough to do this. Taking those out would leave us with Mewtwo, Jirachi, Giratina, Darkrai and Arceus. Now, Arceus could quite probably do much worse than this if it so chose, so I doubt it is. And if it was, searching for a cure would be futile anyway.
"Ever the optimist, I see, professor."
"Carrying on, Mewtwo would also like to do more than this too. While it may not be powerful enough to do something more than this on more than a small scale, I honestly think Mewtwo would prefer to destroy humanity one at a time. Darkrai is a creature of nightmares. Unless the entire world is having a shared nightmare, I sincerely doubt it to be him. And Giratina... I think, if Giratina were ever to resurface, so would Arceus. Which leaves us with..."
"Jirachi. Understood."
"But it seems strange. I always thought Jirachi were reclusive and gentle. At least, I've not heard anything negative about them."
"Well, what do you know?"
"They're steel/psychic. And they supposedly grant wishes."
Dusty looked around the room. "So someone wished for this?"
"It's a possibility."
"Fine, fine. Do you know where it is?"
"As I understand, it's deep in the mountains between Kanto and Johto."
"Alright, I'll get right on it. Thanks for the help Professor."

After leaving Pallet town, Dusty left a quick message with Brock, apologising for having to abandon his post once again, before calling the QA.
"Hi, this is Dusty. I need to search for a legendary pokemon, and I'm requesting aid to be sent to Viridian City ASAP. Thank you."
Dusty debated with Tank in his head over which direction to go for a few seconds, before following Tank's suggestion, and continuing down route 1.

Dusty arrived at Viridian a few hours after sending his plea. Finding no-one waiting, he began to shake with anger.
"HQ wants me to do something, and I jump. The ONLY time I ask them for help. Nothing. At least I know where I stand."
He consulted with Tank for a few minutes before heading for Viridian Forest once again.

A few hours later, Dusty emerged from the forest near the base of Mt. Moon.
Should we start at the peak or the caverns? Dusty thought, and nodded once Tank had responded.
He began to ascend the slope, hoping Mt. Moon wasn't as tall as it had always seemed from his home town.

Dusty reached the peak after a long trek, and wished he could still get his sweater on.
I didn't realise Mt Moon was snow capped... Dusty thought to himself, shivering
And now you know how bad it feels when you get hit by an icy wind... came another voice in his head
Tank, is that you?
Yes, old friend. Now, it is apparent that this "Jirachi" is not up here. I suggest we get down from here.
Sure. Which way is that?
Dusty...
Don't worry, I was kidding. Even I know up from down. most of the time.
Tank sighed at Dusty internally, and Dusty took a step down from the peak. The floor beneath him fell away, and Dusty followed it into the depths of Mt moon.

Dusty landed with a thud upon a pile of stone. He grunted in pain, before struggling to his feet.
He opened his eyes, and found himself to be in a larger cavern than he'd ever seen in Mt Moon. He was on a small island at the centre of an underground lake.
A strange sound came from behind him. Dusty turned around, and saw a strange creature with an opening eye on the centre of its torso.
"What the he..." He started, but the moment the eye finished opening, everything went black, and Dusty fell once more.

When Dusty awoke, he was still on an island of rock. However, he was no longer in the underground cavern. His first clue to that was the strange purple aurora that circled what would be the horizon.
Looking around, he could see more islands, floating due to some unseen force, some at odd angles to his own.
Well, we're not in Mt Moon anymore, Tank. Dusty thought. But no response came. Tank? His mind called for his friend for some time, but there was no answer.
When he finally stared down at himself, he realised why. He was no longer fused with his friend.
Dusty's mind went blank. He sank to his knees, and all the colour drained from his face.
***
After a while, a strange slithering sound came from behind him, snapping Dusty to his senses. Then it was in front of him. Then above him.
Every change in direction caused Dusty to snap around, hoping to catch even the slightest glimpse of the culprit. But whenever his eyes finally caught up to the sound, there was nothing there.
This continued for quite some time, until, as suddenly as it had began, silence descended again. After a few seconds, Dusty breathed a sigh of relief. He turned around, and laid his eyes upon the largest serpent he had ever seen.
Who dares enter my domain? Boomed a voice inside Dusty's head. And Dusty began to see memories flash across his mind. Whatever it was in his head, it was powerful. And it was searching.

Minutes passed, until the last memory before this strange world passed.
Interesting... came the voice, quieter, and more reserved than before. It is strange for one to enter my realm not of their own volition...
"What are you?" Dusty asked, taking a step backwards.
Oh dear, oh dear. I know you have heard of me. And very recently. It was all there in your head. The serpent said, slowly advancing on Dusty as it rose higher, until it's full extent was visible to him finally. I am the watcher in the shadows, the warden of chaos, the creator of, as your kind call it, anti-matter.
"Giratina..." Dusty said, his eyes widening.

So you realise. Good. Giratina spoke directly into Dusty's head. And it is good to be afraid. However, be at ease. You can be of use to me,so you are safe.
Dusty looked Giratina in the eyes. "How could I help you?"
I have been trapped here for so long. And I wish to be free. However, Arceus would never allow me to set foot outside this realm.
"But I have no way of getting out of here either..." Dusty said, confused at what Giratina was asking.
You misunderstand me. I am still capable of opening portals to and from this distorted world. But I cannot leave it. However, if a human were to leave, he would be none the wiser...
"I still don't see how that would help you..."
Tiny, the big bad Ghostie wants to hitch a ride in your head Spook's voice came into Dusty's head.
Whilst you are correct child, I would prefer you call me by my correct name, or learn to hold your tongue.
Meep! Spook went suddenly silent.
Now, do we have a deal, Human? Giratina said, looking down at Dusty.
