((OOC: This quest takes place directly between 'Have you seen this man' and 'Relic Hunting' - This rules out several characters for joining, including; William, Evelyn, Jessica, Dante, Virgil, Yeine, Emilie, Katara. Also rules out Damien. Sorry.))
It had been several weeks since the Pokemon world with Nabarl, Lexi and Damien, and her mind was still reeling from everything that had happened. As soon as they had made it back to HQ, Damien had run off without a word to her or any of them. Kina had watched him go sadly and mildly annoyed at his haste. She had decided that she was due some vacation time and almost immediately left for home.
Kina had spent the first two weeks holed up in her flat, moping around like some love-sick moody teenager before her Sisters dragged her out and made her have some fun. The rest of the time had seen her actively helping out in the Valkyrie community, teaching some of the younger ones and generally having fun.
Kina had almost forgotten about the QA until one day, after a long day of teaching battle skills to a hot-headed 50 year old Valkyrie with bright pink hair, Kina found a note stapled to her front door.
Kina frowned at the note as she took it down and went inside. She flopped down on her sofa and ripped the letter open.
'Kina, you've been gone for too long and it's about time you came back. A portal will open at your location within fifteen minutes of you reading this letter. Make sure you are ready to go. QA'
'They can't be serious!' Kina thought to herself as she sat up. But she knew the QA and when they wanted something, they got it. With a sigh, she ran around the house, collecting her weapons and rucksack of essentials. She left a note on her door for her Sisters, should they come looking for her on the morrow, and waited.
Kina stared at the watch on her wrist and counted down the fifteen minutes they had promised.
As if on cue, a portal opened up - right beneath her.
Kina dropped through it with a yelp and crashed loudly to the floor on the portal room at HQ. She swore loudly as she stood up, testing her bones for breakages. Thankfully she had gotten away with a minor fracture to her right ankle, but that would heal in a few hours.
"You couldn't have just opened it up in front of me?" she shouted angrily at the attendant stood by the controls.
"Sorry ma'am, it did specify location," the girl quivered under Kina's glare.
Kina stretched out her ankle, shaking out the pain.
"Don't worry about it. Why the rush in getting me here?"
"We need you to do a search for something important," came a voice from behind her.
Kina spun around to see who had spoken and noticed a smartly-dressed official - definitely one of the higher ups.
"What's so important it couldn't wait?" Kina asked indignantly.
"One of our own has gone missing, she went in three days ago and should have been back early yesterday morning. Our only guess is that she has gotten herself trapped somewhere."
"Where am I going?" Kina asked, curiously.
"Dante's Inferno - we're setting you down in the Second Circle, we know for sure that she isn't in the First. You need to find her before she gives away too many of our secrets and finds her way into the Ninth. If either you get in there, neither of you will get out."
Kina gulped, Dante's Inferno meant Hell.
She nodded her understanding and took a step towards the new portal that opened up in front of her. Right at the edge she turned around, about to ask if she would have company, but the official must have thought she was about to change her mind - and pushed her through.
On the other side, Kina landed badly on the fractured ankle. With a hiss, she dropped to the ground and tried to rub the pain away. She looked up to see where she was, but a terrible storm raged. The wind was too harsh and blew her hair into her face.
With a sigh, she decided to stay where she was and wait for back-up or at the very least for her ankle to heal. There was no way she could walk on it in this gale.
