Every quester receives a partner digimon - at the in-training stage - on their first quest in the world. This digimon is their partner, but remains in the Digimon world. They can, however, exit the "Digital world" section of their world.
Weapons are forbidden.
Non-human questers are free to enter unaltered, and with their powers unsealed.
Levelling up does not occur with digimon. However, they do undergo digivolution. This process is limited by various factors:
Digimon, while in the "Digital World", are merely an anthropomorphic form of data. They are immortal, and, upon their defeat, will revert to a digi-egg - either in the primary village, or where they fell, depending on whether the digimon has a partner or not.
However, if they enter into another realm of the digimon worlds, then they lose this protection. Their data cannot handle reforming outside the digital world, and is cut off from the primary village.
Digimon are divided into three distinct types: Data, vaccine and Virus. Generally speaking, Virus defeat Data, Data defeat Vaccine, and Vaccine defeat Virus. However, these are by no means a guarantee - nor is a higher level of digivolution.

Levelling up does not occur with digimon. However, they do undergo digivolution. This process is limited by various factors:
- Firstly, the first time a digimon digivolves to the next stage, it must be triggered by either a will to protect their partner, or to fight an obviously stronger foe. After this, the stage achieved becomes obtainable much more easily.
- Secondly, after a battle finishes, the digimon will revert to an earlier stage of digivolution. The higher the level they fought at, the lower the level they will revert to.
- Thirdly, each progressive stage of digivolution must harder to unlock for the individual than the ones that came before.
