William sat in the corner of his booth, observing the other patrons of the pokey, smoke filled bar he currently occupied. Sipping gently at his bottle of beer he thought about the reasons for the QA to insist that he have company on this mission. Annoyance briefly wrinkled his face; he'd never gone on a mission with other members of the QA before, and whilst he had visited HQ from time to time, he was unsure if anyone actually knew he existed. Not that it mattered if he was unknown, he'd been a phantom most his life and he doubted that his existence being known by other QA members would change a damn thing.
Music started to stutter from an ancient jukebox, startling William from his internal thoughts and back to that task at hand. He patted down several of his pockets, both in his jeans and his leather jacket before pulling out a grubby and crumpled piece of paper. Flattening it out he began to re-read the mission parameters. Meet up with the other members of his team, then begin investigations into what was causing temporal fluctuations. No mention of where to start, though HQ had probably figured that with his role in the QA he'd figure some thing out. William snorted in humour and annoyance at the typical lack of detail provided by his superiors. Taking another swig from his beer, he sat and waited.

Nabarl shook the rain off as he entered the bar. He was annoyed that he was being sent on another mission this soon after returning from his last outing. He was beginning to wonder how much longer his "Parole" and "Probation" periods would last. And if he kept getting as injured as he had in all the others, he wasn't sure finishing them would be advisable either.
'Best to keep on their good sides for now though' He thought to himself 'They don't exactly trust us either'
He went to the bar, ordered the cheapest whiskey they had, and sat down to wait for the team leader. They'd said he'd fill him in when everyone had arrived.

William looked up as a figure came in from the torrential rain outside; pausing slightly as he shook the rain off himself before ordering a whiskey. Nodding slightly in approval, William cast a swift eye over the newcomer: long, jet black hair tied back by what appeared to be feathers and an otherwise general strange attire, typical of a QA member and field agent, and far more obvious than William in a crowd, though he appeared to be capable of handling himself.
As the barman was fetching this newcomers drink, William caught the barman's eye then called out in a low growl, that carried across the music and general buzz of muted conversation.
"Marty! Put that whiskey on my tab and you best make it a good one. Get me another beer too whilst you're at it."

Nabarl turned towards the voice. He'd made sure to blend in this time. He'd even ensured his wings were fully bound and was wearing a hat, so he surely shouldn't have stood out that much.
That was when Nabarl noticed everyone else staring at him, and reached to his head. His hat was no longer there. Thinking fast, he grabbed the beer and whiskey, thanked the barkeep, and said to the crowd "Anyone would think you hadn't seen one of the Crow tribe before."
He headed for the booth, and sat opposite the person he assumed was in charge of this one. He didn't really seem to stand out too much. He handed him his beer, and said under his breath "Stupid storm stole my hat."

William watched as the newcomer came over with their drinks and sat down before blaming the foul weather outside for the loss of his hat. William said nothing for a moment, then took a sip of his beer before speaking in a low voice.
"This is why I do most the scouting work. No-one suspects me because I look normal. And it's looks that count. None of the people in here are aware of what I'm really like. Enjoy your drink. "William took another swig from his beer before speking again.
"I don't know how much you've been told about this mission, but it's not one for just two of us. We'll wait here till the others arrive, then I'll let you know what's happening." William paused briefly. "The name's William Cooper, though most people tend to call me Bill."

"I'd like to tell you normally I manage to blend in well enough, but losing the hat kills any chance of that for now." Nabarl said, kicking himself again for not just keeping a hand on it in such a strong breeze. He offered the other man his hand to shake.
"Nabarl. I'm in charge of... Acquisitions." Getting his first real glance at the newcomer, he saw the size and hastened to add, as quiet as he could "Just don't shake too hard. Hollow bones break easy."

William grinned wolfishly as he took the mans hand and shook firmly, yet not too hard.
"Hollow bones? I'm guessing you're not human, then. At least in part anyway. And I'm not saying you're bad at subterfuge. You're just not as good as me."
William stretched, his leather jacket creaking as he looked out the barred window next to their table. The sky war a mess of clouds and lightning, yet he could clearly see the moon hanging lazily in the sky. "Two or three days to go till it's full" William thought to himself. He turned his attention back to the bar, the non-human Nabarl and his beer and waited for the rest of the party.

Nabarl laughed internally at the mans boast. 'He obviously didn't read my file then.'
"Perhaps I need the practice. And I guess, for ease, I'm half-human, half-raven." Nabarl visibly winced when giving the description. "Do you have any idea how many more are meant to be coming? I'm just not used to HQ sending a large group on one mission unless it's important." Nabarl knew better than that, but this guy certainly seemed to be new. And he didn't think Nabarl was good at subterfuge. 'All the easier to fool then.'Nabarl thought to himself.

William shrugged once more and took a drink before replying.
"I don't know how many more, but I sincerly hope is more than just us. And trust me, it's important. It's big enough for the QA to put me on it with a group of other questers; I don't know precicely what's going on, but if the QA want me to play nice with others then it's big. Especialy during this point in the month."
He looked down to his watch, then wrinkled his nose when he saw it was missing. He glanced around quickly, before looking at the door.
"Should be more soon, hopefuly."

Nabarl noticed his glance at his wrist, but said nothing. He certainly seemed used to being in charge, but with Nabarl being the only person at the booth, he certainly should have been able to deduce it was his fault. Shame HQ were being tight on his leash after all that had happened. This guy could have been fun to screw with for a while.
He waited five minutes before drinking the rest of the whiskey, and standing. "I'm gonna get another drink. We should probably give whoever's coming the rest of the night. Sometimes HQ has trouble synchronising everyone if they don't all take the same route."
He went to the bar, paid for his new drink, and sat down.
