New to the World:
All Questers:
Please note: The QA will only ever give you one Pokémon. If your Pokémon have died or disappeared for whatever reason, it is your job to catch a new one if you wish to quest in that world again.
- Each Quester will receive one base evolution state Pokémon at level 5, with natural moves only (with the exception of Pokemon who have no offensive moves, such as Abra and Magikarp, in which case one egg move is allowed) the first time they quest in this world. Try to make it match either your personality or your abilities if you can. You may have any Pokémon of either gender from any region, excluding legendaries, but it must not be evolved. Shinies are rare, but allowed. (If you're unfamiliar with the franchise PM someone in any thread in this world for suggestions).
- HQ will also give you a trainers starters kit - Pokédex, 5 Pokéballs, 3 potions, satchel/bag of some kind and a world map the first time you quest in this world. [Edit: In light of the quest 'Backtrack, Backtrack', for every quest after it the starters kit now also contains an X-Transceiver.]
- Any Pokémon or items obtained during your quests in this world are available to you the next time you quest in this world.
All Questers:
- Weapons will be held by HQ before departure.
- You may still have any Pokémon or items you obtained on previous quests in this world.
- EXP system: It takes winning the same number of wild battles as your current level to level up, or winning half the number of trainer battles as your current level (rounded up). You may also combine the two. (e.g. It would take 5 wild battles, 3 trainer battles, or 3 wild battles and 1 trainer battle, for a level 5 Pokémon to reach level 6)
- Bulbapedia has a "habitat" section for each Pokémon. Use that to determine whether or not a Pokémon can be found in the current area. (So, using Pikachu as an example, it says "They are found mostly in forests, but commonly show up in civilized areas. Pikachu are native only to the Kanto region (specifically, Viridian Forest and the Kanto Power Plant), although they have been introduced to the Hoenn Safari Zone and to the Trophy Garden in Sinnoh." Therefore, this Pokémon would only be found in these areas. Wurmple, on the other hand, says that it lives in tall grass and forests, and its natural regions are Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova, but it has been seen in Kanto's trees, and was imported into Johto's national park for bug-catching contests, so this Pokémon could generally be found anywhere.)
- Use the newest generation items like TMs/HMs and berries, etc. (Flash is a TM, Rock Smash is an HM, berries exist... etc etc etc)
- Collectively obtaining gym badges for the use of HMs outside battle and control of stronger Pokémon works. (Don't battle the gyms as a group, whoever is most suited to taking on the gym does so. Therefore, Questers should find out (in the quest) what Pokémon types are used in each gym. Since gym battles are official, things like "throw mud at them!" aren't allowed. As a group, the badge's abilities translate to all Questers. Gym badges may or may not be donated to the QA Archives at the end of the quest/s.
- Evolutions remain as they are in-game. However, a stone-evolved Pokémon may be found in the wild IF it is conceivable to think that it could have found the right kind of stone to evolve (e.g. Clefairy could quite happily have found a moon stone and evolved into Clefable, as shown in the anime.
- Gym and wild Pokemon levels are scaled to match the Quester's.
Please note: The QA will only ever give you one Pokémon. If your Pokémon have died or disappeared for whatever reason, it is your job to catch a new one if you wish to quest in that world again.
