Gladly... Firstly, any extraordinary appendages/features will be magically bound/hidden (Claws, wings, unnatural eye colours, etc.), but weapons are allowed, as long as they're concealed in some manner (Either collapsible or small enough to hide). Personal magic is also forbidden.
A "Persona" is a tamed "Shadow", and manifestation of a person's personality. It grows more powerful as it's wielder overcomes their personal boundaries.
"Shadows" are the creatures born from the suppressed feelings of those who live in the real world. The shadows of people who can summon Persona are often dangerous. They lure their hosts to the otherside, and confront them with their darker feelings. However, if the person can come to accept the shadow as a part of them, it will morph into a persona.
Any questers who enter the world will initially be drawn to the otherside, which will lead to you developing your "Persona".
Persona rules Each quester can maitain only one persona. Their persona itself need not be a reflection of themself, but must represent the Major Arcana which symbolically represents them (I can provide links to Tarot symbology stuff and lists of Persona for each Arcana in a "Regarding" thread). Persona can only be used in the otherside, and thus, only in this world. Your persona should be no higher than level 15 when you receive it. Every boss defeated raises your persona a level. Every dungeon completed raises your persona two levels.
(I will edit these as and when necessary, but these should be enough to start with at least...)

Query: What does battling Shadows do to your level? Surely that's gotta have some effect?

well, obviously in the games they do level you up. It's just a question of scale...
I'd say, for now, it takes 2x your current level in defeated shadows (Besides bosses) to level up, although that scale may change.

Yeah, that sounds like it'd work. What about the difference between bosses and mini-bosses? If a boss gives you 1 level and a dungeon gives you 2, what does a mini-boss give you? Maybe it could count for half a normal boss? Like you'd need to defeat 2 mini-bosses to level up? Then you could pair it with Shadows; so if you're level 8, you need 16 shadows to level up, right? But if you defeat a mini-boss, it counts for half the number of shadows? So you could defeat 8 shadows and a mini-boss and you'd level up... Maybe? Just a thought.
