This thread is open for anyone who wants to join.
Basic rules for the adventure are as follows: Magic is to be avoided. Weapons will be held by HQ before departure. You receive one base evolution state pokemon at level 5, with natural moves only - try and make it match either your personality or your abilities if you can (If you're unfamiliar with the franchise talk to someone in thread OOC for suggestions). You will also recieve a trainers starters kit - Pokedex, 5 pokeballs, 3 potions, satchel and a world map. We're currently starting at Pallet town. It would be recommended you start from there.
EXP system: It takes winning twice the number of wild battles as your current level to level up, or winning a number of trainer battles equal to your current level.
You may also combine the two
(Example: It would take 10 wild battles, 5 trainer battles, or 6 wild battles and 2 trainer battles, for a level 5 pokemon to reach level 6)

Also, just outside Pallet Town, there's a large, red smokey message hovering in the air saying "Questers this way!" with an arrow pointed in our general direction. This may or may not be helpful information, but just in case you don't read the quest so far. I would advise at least reading the first message, as it contains the quest information.

Ok, for reference:
1. Bulbapedia has a "habitat" section for each pokemon. Use that to determine whether or not a pokemon can be found in the current area. (So, using Pikachu as an example, it says "They are found mostly in forests, but commonly show up in civilized areas. Pikachu are native only to the Kanto region (specifically, Viridian Forest and the Kanto Power Plant), although they have been introduced to the Hoenn Safari Zone and to the Trophy Garden in Sinnoh." Therefore, this pokemon would only be found in these areas. Wurmple, on the other hand, says that it lives in tall grass and forests, and its natural regions are Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova, but it has been seen in Kanto's trees, and was imported into Johto's national park for bug-catching contests, so this pokemon could generally be found anywhere.) 2. Use the newest generation items like TMs/HMs and berries, etc. (Flash is a TM, Rock Smash is an HM, berries exist... etc etc etc) 3. Collectively obtaining gym badges for the use of HMs outside battle and control of stronger pokemon works. (Don't battle the gyms as a group, whoever is most suited to taking on the gym does so. Therefore, Questers should find out (in the quest) what pokemon types are used in each gym. Since gym battles are official, things like "throw mud at them!" aren't allowed. As a group, the badge's abilities translate to all Questers. Gym badges may or may not be donated to the QA Archives at the end of the quest. 4. Evolutions remain as they are in-game. However, a stone-evolved Pokemon may be found in the wild IF it is conceivable to think that it could have found the right kind of stone to evolve (e.g. Clefairy could quite happily have found a moon stone and evolved into Clefable, as shown in the anime)

OK, I have an idea I want to try and bring in, but if it's too complex or too big a change, feel free to shoot it down guys.
How about, to shake things up a little, we have the Gym Leaders challenge for the Elite Four spots if they've held off a certain number of challengers in a row? We'd have to be careful not to keep on switching the members, but it would be different, and give us a way to show how, in QA at least, the Elite Four became, and remain, the Elite Four.

Elaborate, but that sounds like it could be a really interesting, if complex, idea

Ok, What I'm thinking is that, before a quest in the Pokemon World starts, which means it's too late for either of our quests, the questers should make a thread about this, and discuss whether they want any Gym Leaders or Elite Four members in their region changing, for that quest only.
Then, during the quest, every so often, a Gym leader will challenge the Elite four to a match. They'll be randomly drawn against one of the members. Win, and their in. The Elite Four member then has the choice to take over the gym, or to go away and train for a rematch.
Like I said, changing the Elite Four wholesale or changing it every twenty posts would get too hectic, so I'd suggest having to clear any changes with the party before making them.
Another idea I have is one to let people do badges in any order - Having the Gym leaders "Scale their teams" to us. Not as vital in an pure rp thread (I'm in another forum where we actually sim the gym leader battles.), but it wouldn't make sense for us to beat the gym leaders at all if they weren't matching our teams to either our current levels, or the number of badges each of us have.
Like I said, only ideas, and feel free to nyx it.

I think changing the gyms and elite four around is going to be incredibly complex, and I would welcome Sierra and tom's inputs on this one. However, scaling the gyms to allow us to battle them in any order sounds like an excellent plan! Especially given that we've just run past two or three without even thinking about them. I might also consider scaling wild pokemon to suit our levels as well, again, given that we're wandering around Vermilion City with level 6's at best.

Given the levelling system we chose, unless Nabarl or anyone else put in a lot of work off screen, I think we're all still at level 5. So scaling wild pokemon (Unless someone wants to have something ridiculously strong challenge them and win for story reasons at any pont) sounds like a good idea.
As for the changing gym leaders and elite four, I was expecting to need their input anyway.

I think scaling wild pokemon and gym leaders to our level is a great idea Again the gym leader/elite four changing could be a little hard to grasp, but it could work...
