After being thoroughly confused by the unholy combination of letters, numbers, and shapes that called itself calculus Marcus was relieved to have history with Evelyn, they both walked in together and introduced themselves to the teacher. He introduced them, quizzed them on a few random history facts that Evelyn only got right because she had lived them and Marco only got right because he was lucky. They sat next to each other in the back corner of the room and completely ignored the lesson to pass notes back and forth. how was art? Evelyn wrote. I might end up trying out for the football team omg you have to do it maybe, Marco wrote, calculus is hard as hell I've been to hell it wasn't that bad Evelyn wrote. ok, how was chem, were the juniors nice? Marco asked I have some admirers who are totally crushing on me, Evelyn replied. Marco laughed when he read the note and the teacher finally noticed. "Do you find prohibition to be funny?" He asked, starting to walk in their general direction. "Well, it was a moronic decision that didn't work and was never going to work so yeah it was pretty funny," Evleyn said, remembering nights when her mother would be a little drunk and insist that the law was merely a suggestion. Evelyn herself had worked as a bootlegger for a short time. The teacher had reached Marco by this time and picked up the paper they had been passing notes on. "I hope you don't mind if I share this with the whole class," he asked, Marco smiled and waved his hand to give the teacher permission. He looked down at the paper and squinted. "What language is this?" He asked, slightly less sure of himself now. "It's Latin, a particularly archaic vernacular dialect from the Italian coast," Marco said with a smirk, winking at Evelyn and wiggling his fingers like he was casting a spell at her under the desk. "I won't even ask where you learned that," the teacher said, "in the future don't pass notes." "Of course not sir," Marco said, his face dead serious. Evelyn fought the urge to giggle and by extending her fangs slightly and biting her tongue.

((Ooc: You may need to help me out with timetables and such - grew up on the UK system, so not wholly sure of the USA one. Just let me know if/when I go wrong.))
Emilie was relieved to be getting a break, regardless how short, when she realised it was recess or lunch or whatever it was. Formal education was a nightmare! She didn't understand how regular humans put up with it for so long. She liked the freedom growing up in the Hub had given her. Here they had so many rules that, had she not had a perfect memory, she'd never have learned them all. "I mean," she said to Marco and Evelyn when she found them "these kids are being told to think about their futures, and work out the path they're going to take to get to where they want to be and so on, but they have to ask permission to go to the bathroom? I don't understand how that makes any sense at all. How are they supposed to learn independence, or decide where they want to be in ten years, or take charge of their lives, if they're not even trusted with their own bodily functions? It sends very mixed messages to impressionable people. On the one hand they're being told to be themselves, to have courage, to challenge things, to make something of themselves. On the other they're being told that the people in charge have complete control over them, to the extent that relieving yourself is a privilege to be granted, not a basic necessity. The right to use the bathroom can be withheld as a punishment! Is that normal? Do all schools do it?" It made absolutely no sense to Emilie. She hadn't needed to ask permission to use the bathroom since she was old enough to know that she needed to go, yet these kids seemed to think it was standard. How were they supposed to make any decisions about their own futures when, at the age of seventeen, they still had to ask permission to do some of the most basic things?

((OOC: I'm going with a schedule close to my school's which is a bell schedule with 8 45 minute periods, one of which is lunch (in this case lunch is 5th period). Middle and high schools don't have recess but in high school lunch is essentially the same thing with a different name because we can do pretty much whatever we want. I have Evelyn's schedule as being 1-Chem, 2-English, 3-US History (with Marco), 4-Art, 5-Lunch, 6-Calc, 7-Italian (with Marco), 8-Physics (with Emilie) and Marco's schedule as 1-Art, 2-Calc, 3-USHS (with Evelyn), 4-English, 5-Lunch, 6-Herbology (with Emilie), 7-Italian (with Evelyn), 8-Gym. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask, I happen to know a lot about high school )) "It's stupid but that's how it is and it's best not to question it because we're almost done anyway," Marco explained, "Some teachers are better about it than others, my English teacher treats us as pretty mature individuals, she said if we need to go to the bathroom to just take the pass and not interrupt class, but other than that it's very confusing." They sat down at a table in the courtyard and started to eat their school lunches. ((OOC: also school lunches aren't actually that bad, at least at my school, and they're served buffet style so you can choose what you want. We have a salad bar (probably the worst part of the line though because it's not as fresh as it could be), usually a vegetarian and an everyone else option that changes every day from pizza to chicken to mac and cheese, prepackaged things like chips and carrots, a slushee machine, and soft pretzels. They're not great but they're decent)) Students kept looking over at the three of them and whispering, Evelyn allowed her vampiric senses to let her eavesdrop. "The girls at the table behind me think you're hot," she said casually to Marco as she took a bite of her pizza. "What? Where? Oh my god them? But they're cute...what do I do? Evelyn why do you share these things with me?" He said, blushing slightly and looking down at his plate. Evelyn just smiled and continued eating.

((Ooc: My school lunches were pretty good, as I recall. Until Jamie Oliver came and took away our chocolate cakes, pizzas and turkey twizzlers... Ok, how does this sound for Emilie's timetable? 1-Music, 2-Psychology, 3-English, 4-Biology, 5-Lunch, 6-Herbology (with Marco), 7-French, 8-Physics (with Evelyn). Does that look ok? Is it the same every day or does it change? And is there anything compulsory that I've missed?)) Emilie tried hard not to listen to what everyone was thinking, but without the distraction of real noise it was much harder. Instead she decided to relay the important developments of her first couple of classes. "So someone in my music class is keeping an eye on me in case I do anything else interesting, and the fact that we live alone has spread through this place like wildfire." She surmised. "If we use your party idea like a social experiment, Ev, I think it probably needs to be within the week, before all the hype about us has faded." She kept a careful feel of the minds closest to them to make sure nobody was listening to them too intently. They seemed to be alright so far, and their plans to be interesting enough to get some attention were working perfectly. ((Ooc: Also, what do you do in herbology? Are we talking theory or practice here? The history of herbalism or the modern day? The closest I ever came to studying herbology was the plant sections of biology... Or reading Harry Potter... DG would make an excellent gardener, maybe I should just have her be that instead ))

((OOC: Looks fine to me, a bell schedule is the same every day, some schools have block schedules where the classes are longer and you only have a few each day instead of all of them but it's easiest to keep track of a bell schedule At my school students are required to take English every year, 3 Science classes including bio, chem, and a physical science, 3 years of language, 1 year of art or music elective, 1 year of gym, 1 semester of health, math through PreCalc, and 3 social studies classes including USHS, USGov, and World. I personally have completed all my credits except health and English so I can take whatever I want as long as I take those 2. We can just assume Emilie has completed all her math and social studies credits When it comes to herbology it's not actually a class offered at my school I just thought it would be cool and also thought it would fit DG's character well. I would say it probably starts with theory/history/general information and then moves into practice so students can actually see the things they're learning and apply the knowledge.)) "Everyone okay with a party on Friday night?" Evelyn asked, "we'll have to get food and drinks and hide everything valuable or QA related but otherwise it should be pretty easy." "Yeah," Marco said, still looking at his plate. His blush had gotten worse and he looked adorably pathetic. Evelyn reached over and ruffled his hair, "Just go say hi to them," she said, kicking him under the table. "What? No I can't" Marco said, looking up. "Invite them to the party this Friday," Evelyn told him, "go now or I'll do it and tell them you think they're cute." "Okay, okay," Marco said, taking a deep breath and standing up. He walked over to the table and the girls started giggling and whispering to each other. He looked at Evelyn over his shoulder and she waved him on. "Um, hi, I'm Marc," he said. "Hey Marc," the girls said, going around the table and introducing themselves. "I'm new here and my friends and I were thinking about throwing a party on Friday," he said, motioning to Evelyn and Emilie. Evelyn waved and smiled. "He's shy," she called, "he's trying to ask y'all to come." Marco blushed even more and glared at Evelyn, she winked back. "We'll totally be there!" the girl closest to Marco said, nudging him slightly with her shoulder. "A-Awesome, see you then, make sure to tell all your friends, it's gonna be awesome," he said, quickly returning to Evelyn and Emilie. "I used awesome twice in the same sentence, I sounded like a moron," he said as he sat back down.

((Ooc: You learn something new every day! Our school schedule was more like a block one then - it changed every day but each fortnight was the same. What extracurricular stuff do you guys get?))
"Maybe," Emilie agreed "but they still think you're adorable." She turned to Evelyn. "How do we go about inviting everyone at school to a party?" She asked, going over in her mind all the things in the house they would need to hide. She lowered her voice before adding "I'm thinking we should spread through as many different groups as possible. So if Marco -sorry, Marc- tries out for the football team, you and I should have something after school too. I wonder what clubs they have here..." She lowered her voice a little more "Do you think they have archery? My bio says I was in the archery club at the last school, and I'm actually not bad with a bow."

((OOC: for actual school sports we have soccer (my school actually just won states in both boys and girls soccer), football, lacrosse, field hockey, regular hockey, volleyball, soccer, etc the basics. Then there are sports that are more club but still associated with the school like crew, swim/dive, and sailing, then there are clubs. As long as you can get a teacher sponsor you can have pretty much any club you want. There is an archery club at my school, there's all sorts of cultural clubs, there's a cosplay club, bellydance, contra dance, model UN, mock trials, community service type things, literally anything you can think of. I personally do most of my extracurriculars not related to the school but I am in DECA which is a business club type thing and that's through the school.))
Evelyn nodded in agreement then started planning the party in her head quickly. The issue of invitation was easy, "Just mention it to enough people and give a few our address and they'll invite everyone for us," she said, moving to larger logistical problems, "we have to decide, are we going to have alcohol? Because if so we have to watch for cops and make sure nothing bad happens to anyone. If I stay sober and sleep a lot Thursday then I can drop my walls partially and monitor behavior throughout the night but I will be out of action on Saturday and possibly part of Sunday. For now In terms of the groups I think I'm gonna go primarily for the artsy girls and then overlap a little with Marco for the remedial athletic boys, they're already in lust with me so it shouldn't be hard. I also might join cheerleading because I've secretly always wanted to have cheerleader drama because I find it hilarious and their skirts are cute. Not to mention if anyone is occult it's those girls."

((Ooc: Your school sounds awesome!))
"I think I'll stick with what I know, get some attention for it. Next to mind games, weapons are my forté. Of course, it would be a lot easier if they had an occult club, or live action role-play or something. A bunch of kids running around pretending to throw spells at each other sounds like a sure way to come across some real magic..." Emilie sighed and drained her glass of whatever it was she was drinking. HQ had different food from this school, and she just knew it would take her a few days to get used to it all. "As for alcohol, I can keep a feeler out for cops and neighbours and shield the house if I sense anything. Plus, thanks to my powers, it seems no matter what I drink nor how much it is utterly impossible for me to get drunk, and believe me I've tried. Some of the older Questers told me about this drink called The Brew. It's infused with pixie dust and is so powerful it can get the Elves of Middle Earth dancing on the tables after just one glass, but it has absolutely no effect on me..." she told them, a little miserably. "I suppose that's a good thing really, I hear the hangover is horrendous, enough to hospitalise if you have too much. Just goes to show you shouldn't mess with pixie dust. It's powerful stuff..." She considered the logistics of what they were planning and wondered whether or not to suggest locking everything they needed to hide in the basement, given that the entrance to the secret passage to DG's place was down there, and other students finding it would be bad. However, before she could voice this suggestion the bell rang signalling the end of lunch. Emilie projected the idea into Evelyn and Marco's minds as she gathered her things. "Herbology, Marc, c'mon!" She grinned, getting back into character.

((OOC: My school is pretty great, it's one of the best public schools in the country))
"Have fun," Evelyn said, "I'll be dying in calc." She made her way to the classroom and introduced herself to the teacher. "It's nice to have you Eva," She said, "were you in a high level math class at your last school?" "Yes, I was," Evelyn said, wishing she hadn't been. She had never been good at math and would probably spend a majority of the tests in this class punching through her mental barriers to eavesdrop on her classmates' thought processes. She knew that dropping her walls as often as she was doing these days was a bad idea and she could feel the surrounding information pressing in on her consciousness, ready to burst, and her carelessness with the state of her mind was starting to worry her. Not too long ago she'd been comatose for an entire month just processing data absorbed while her walls were down on a quest. The QA had been grateful for the information and she had been fine in the end but her recovery had taken months and had required more blood and dropped bodies than she was willing to admit. The calculus class was about as bad as she had expected, something about parametrized curves, but she managed to casually mention the party to several people.

Emilie spent most of their herbology class gleaning as much information from everyone else as she possibly could. She'd decided that since this was the class DG would be taking over, and one look at the current teacher told her it wouldn't be long, she should help the transition as much as she could. Of course, she also spent her time talking to other students, doing the work and having silent conversions with Marco in their heads. By the time the class was over everyone sitting around them knew about the party, and a handful had their address. The information was already spreading. Two different students stopped them in the corridor to ask for the party address, and Emilie hadn't even met them before. "Well, I suppose it's a good thing..." she said quietly to Marco once the second student had hurried off to tell his friends. "What did you think of herbology?"
