((OOC: basically they're going to be sent on a quest at a high school so questers should be passing 18 or younger humanoids or knowledgable enough in a topic to be 'teachers'))
Evelyn sat in the driver's seat of a small sports car in the parking lot of a QA outpost building. Her seatbelt was buckled and she was staring straight ahead but the keys were in her hand and she wasn't going anywhere. "Come on Evelyn, it's not going to be that bad," Marco said, leaning across to unbuckle her. The seatbelt slid back until it hit her arm but she still didn't move. "You have to go in," he said, moving her arm and getting out of the car to open her door. "I don't want to do it," she said. "Really? I hadn't guessed," Marco said as he pulled her out of the car and draped her arm over his shoulder, grabbing her by the waist and leading her toward the building's side door. "This is stupid," she said, shoving him off and crossing her arms as she walked. "You don't even know what it is yet," Marco reminded her. "They called me while I was at lunch and told me to pick you up and bring you here. They never ask me to fetch people, it's going to be bad." She snapped. "Maybe they knew I needed a ride if I was going to go anywhere, maybe you're just my chauffeur and the quest or whatever will be for me not you," he suggested, opening the door and pushing her through it when she hesitated. "Do you really believe that they would have me come here and not send me on a quest?" She asked, "maybe your quest is the one we're here for but I can tell you I'm not going back through that door without a manilla folder full of instructions." "Well maybe it won't be a bad quest, maybe it'll be something fun." "Yeah, right," Evelyn said as they turned a corner and entered the main reception area. Marco approached the agent sitting behind the desk and spoke with him briefly. The man kept looking at Evelyn and she couldn't tell if he was scared of, disgusted by, or curious about her. He pointed Marco down a hallway and his eyes followed them as they left. "Did you see the way that guy was looking at me?" Evelyn asked Marco under her breath, "I don't think he was feeling friendly." "He's an intern, interns do miscellaneous tasks that nobody wants to do, like filing," Marco said, "I spent an entire summer in the archives one year because they wanted me to file quester information. Your file is by far one of the largest I've ever seen, he probably had to do something similar and found it. No offense but having read a decent amount of that folder I didn't feel very friendly toward you when I first met you." "Are you allowed to read quester files as an intern?" Evelyn asked, suddenly considering an internship. "Of course not it's strictly forbidden," Marco said, opening a green door and stepping into an office. Evelyn was going to reply but was cut off by the woman behind the office's only piece of furniture that wasn't a chair, a large wooden desk. "Hello, you must be Marco and Evelyn," she said, "we're waiting for a few more but you can sit anywhere you'd like until they arrive." She waved her arm at the odd collection of chairs scattered around the room before returning to the folder she had been reading before they entered.

"Finally!" Emilie grinned from a chair somewhere in the middle of the room. "I've been here for ages." Just then, and without any warning for anyone -except Emilie, who always seemed to know what was going on- the door and floorboards began to warp and twist. The woman looked up from behind the desk, sighed and said calmly "Stop messing about, Dayana. Just get in here." The wooden door and floorboards returned to their usual shapes and places and DG walked into the room, a little sulky but not at all surprised. "Emilie!" She smiled at the redhead almost lovingly. "I didn't know you were coming!" She turned and saw the others. "Marco, isn't it? We met on that absurd film."
((Ooc: I'm assuming this is at the end of the timeline, but tell me if I'm wrong - makes a difference to my characters))

((OOC: You're correct don't worry )) "Hey! Nice to see you again," Marco said, smiling and trying to get up to shake her hand only to trip over himself and nearly faceplant. Evelyn tried to avoid laughing because the poor kid was such a softie but allowed herself a snicker anyway. The lady behind the desk cleared her throat and everyone turned to look at her. She stood up, unfolding to a much taller height than one would have expected, and stepped to the other side of the desk. "I suppose this is all we'll be getting today, if some others join that will be fine but I highly doubt it because I specifically told management to send me fewer than five and you are four. There has been a notification about a potential magical threat in a local high school. The threat comes in the form of an occult group of teenagers who have somehow stumbled upon some real power. However, before we could identify the culprits, they managed to shield themselves. Even if we knew who they were, we would have trouble dealing with them without blowing a crater in an otherwise perfectly pleasant small town. You four are going to be transferred into the school as students and, in the case of DG here, teachers. Your job is to first identify the group then infiltrate it and collect information. You are not to act on anything until you have reported back to me and we have processed the information. We do not know much about the group and it is possible that hasty action could cost both knowledge and lives. There is a folder for each of you in addition to some new living arrangements. Are there any questions?"

Emilie shook her head. She rarely needed to ask questions, even after her second proper stint in Limbo when she'd lost her hearing, (that feral couple of hours definitely didn't count), what with being able to read minds. However, DG had a question. "Three new students and a teacher may well raise some questions none of us will want to answer. I'd like to assume we have cover stories, but knowing this place..." she trailed off. "Temporary supply teacher would make the most sense in my case, I suppose. Do we know what age I'll be teaching? And perhaps what subject?" Alright, perhaps it was more like a few questions.

"One of the teachers is very pregnant and will be leaving on maternity leave very soon, the subject is herbology, which I expect will not be too much of a challenge," the woman explained, "Emilie, Evelyn, and Marco's covers are a group of estranged minors who met at a shelter and are very close friends who have just moved into town together to avoid their respective parents. Evelyn's cover's parents were very wealthy and when she separated from them after being kicked out for a final time her lawyer managed to get her a very significant part of the money. They used that money to buy a small house in the town center. Dayana, you will be in charge. The others will transfer into the school before you do and will report back to you regularly until you can take over for Mrs. Garabaldo, hopefully sometime within the next month."

"Long quest then?" DG sighed. "I suppose I'd better go pack. Do I have somewhere to live, or will the teacher be living with the students?"

"We've arranged for you to have a small house about five miles from the school, it's about three miles from Emilie, Marco, and Evelyn's house but there's a tunnel linking the two with meeting rooms so you can meet out of the sight of prying eyes," the woman explained, "this quest will probably last at least a few months." She picked up four folders form the piles on her desk and handed them out. Evelyn took hers and started flipping through it, smiling to herself because for once this quest seemed really interesting and maybe even fun to her. Her name was now Eva, which was simple because she had modeled under that name a few decades ago, and she was 17. There were printouts from google of her fabricated past, including court documents and a few news articles. There were even some slightly doctored photos and some that she was suspicious about the QA's access to. Her class schedule was in the back of the packet with a driver's license and some other personal documents. "Chemistry, English, American history-why would I take that?, art, calculus, Italian-I'm fluent that should be easy, and physics. Why am I taking physics and chemistry at the same time?" She muttered to herself as she read through it. She closed the folder and grabbed Marco's from him. He made a small noise in protest and she handed him hers. He sighed and took it, rolling his eyes at her. "You're in my American History and Italian classes," Evelyn said, "Why do you get to take gym and herbology and no physics or chemistry? Your cover has much better taste in electives. What about you Emilie, what're you in?"

Emilie shuffled through her papers for her schedule and grinned. "I get herbology with Marco and physics with you. Then there's biology, philosophy, music -that should be interesting given that I'm deaf- and psychology. Honestly, did you people even consider these before you chose them?" "Why anyone would put you, of all people, in a psychology class is beyond me." DG stated unapologetically. Emilie stuck her tongue out and shifted back to her cover story page. It was simple enough, and relatively close to the truth. She'd been found wandering the streets when she was very young and put into the foster care system until someone claimed her. Nobody did and so she was stuck in the system until she ran away and found the others. "Apparently I'm Eleanor... Why am I Eleanor? I've never needed to change my name before. Emilie is common enough, isn't it?" "Fine, fine. Introduce yourself however you want, but you're officially Eleanor Bennett, so you can deal with the questions should you call yourself something else." Emilie rolled her eyes sulkily, but said no more about it. "Hang on. Dorothy Gayle?" DG asked, incredulous. "You do know this is Earth, right? The Wizard of Oz is kind of a big thing in some places. You can't expect me to waltz into a high school with that name." "I can and do." Replied the official. DG shook her head and began coming up with explanations for her name.

"Just say your parents were obsessed, like the parents who name their daughters Hermione and their sons Neville, or the hippies who named their kids things like Granola and Rainbow," Evelyn said, as she flipped through Marco-now Marc's folder. Marco, sitting next to her, was doing the same. "Hey, Ev, I'm older than you," he said, pointing to her cover's birthday, "You're March 12, I'm December 5." "Congrats, your fake personality is three months older than mine," Evelyn said, "maybe we'll throw you a party for your birthday." "You'd better," Marco replied, "also way to go on the GPA, solid 3.0, I'm a 3.5 but it's not important. I guess it's not too unusual for a student to repeat chemistry, you'll be in a class with all younger students, I'm sure you'll enjoy that." Evelyn rolled her eyes and grabbed her folder back. "Everyone in this room is younger than me, although to be honest ma'am I don't know how old you are," she said to the woman, "a couple years isn't going to make that much of a difference. I failed chem the first time around anyway, so maybe it'll be nice to finally pass it." "We trust you will perform well in all of your classes, remember that if your GPAs drop too significantly your college acceptances can be revoked," the woman said, "now, the moving trucks have just arrived, so if you'll follow me outside we can park your car in the storage unit and you can go meet your new neighbors." Before Evelyn could ask about the college thing or protest about her car, the woman was halfway down the hall.

"What's college?" Emilie mouthed at DG, but her friend wasn't paying attention. She let it go, no doubt she'd find out soon enough. They followed the woman outside and waited patiently for Evelyn to put her car away. 'Emilie? Can you hear me?' It was the official's voice the girl was hearing. Curiously, she answered. 'Do you really need to ask? What is it?' 'As your powers are the most usable of the three of you, we want you to be the initial infiltrator. You should have little trouble finding them, just keep your mind open and listening. Show these kids you're like them, and suggest they meet the others. Don't overdo it, mind. Gauge their abilities and adjust yours accordingly. We don't want to scare them into trying more powerful magic. It could be dangerous if they can't handle it.' Emilie nodded as a couple of moving trucks pulled up beside them. Both Emilie and DG were curious to find out what was in them, as neither had been told to pack before coming to the meeting.
